Spelling City (Our Class's Page)

Now, you can go to Spelling City, and our personal class list is provided!  I left the other Spelling City link up in case you want to work on previous words or other challenge words for your child!  You can also type in vocabulary to practice!

Spelling City

This site offers games and even a 'practice' test to study spelling words.  You can type in our weekly list and select the games you would like your child to play.  There are even games that you can use to help your child study vocabulary.  Type in the vocabulary words and choose the vocabulary games to play.  Keep this site in mind even as your child moves to other grades!

Starfall.com - literacy skills (including letter sounds, reading, word families, games, and more)

Starfall.com is a great site that the children are familiar with because of class use.  They offer games, online books, reading activities, and more.  There are also activities surrounding famous artists, composers, and more.

Storia

This site offers 2,100 tites for children's whose reading level is from Pre-K to 6th grade!  It also offers optional comprehension questions for helping children focus on not only 'saying' the words but also understanding what they read. It can be accessed on computers as well as tablets!

ABCya.com

ABCya.com offers games covering literacy and math skills.  You can choose the desired grade level and work from there.  If your child is above grade level, feel free to see what he/she can achieve.  They also have apps you can purchase if you wish.

IXL Math Games

This site has math games for almost any skill.  The games aren't very animated, but the questions are good.  It is also great to be able to focus on a certain skill your child needs to improve on.

Number Sense Games

These games are rather simple, but build good number sense about numbers.  They help with subitizing (seeing numbers / adding numbers without counting), number relationships, addition, and more!  There are multiple grade levels.  Of course, we want to focus on the first grade skills, but you can challenge your child with other levels if they are capable.

Making Ten Game

At www.coolmath-games.com, there are a few math games that the children can play.  We have been working on facts with sums of ten.  This game focuses on that skill.

100 Chart - Give a Dog a Bone Game

The new standards outline that first grade children should be able to count to, identify, and write to 120.  This game only goes to 100, but it helps children be flexible thinkers with some number concepts  (greater than, less than, number sequence, 10 more, etc.).

Telling / Showing Time Practice

We are learning to tell time to the hour and half-hour this year.  This link will take you to a game where the children can read the time and adjust the clock to match.

2-Dimensional and 3-Dimensional Shape Practice

Practice identifying 2D and 3D shapes.

Skip Counting Game (counting by 2s, 5s, 10, and more)

This game will help your child practice counting by 2s, 5s, and 10s.  If they have that mastered, they could move on to counting by other numbers.  This is a good prerequisite for addition, multiplication, and more!

Math Fact Speed Game (Race Car)

You can customize this game by operation (addition, subtraction, multiplication, or division) and level.  It’s goal is to help your child with speed and accuracy when solving equations.

Math Fact Speed Game (Calculator)

This game is customizable by operation (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) and level.  It is designed to track frequently missed equations and help your child become faster when answering math facts.

Math Fact Speed Game (Alien Addition)

This game allows your child to practice adding accurately and quickly.

Math Fact Speed Game (Minute Subtraction)

This game is quite basic.  It presents subtraction facts for your child to solve within a minute.
